What is medical weight loss?
Medical weight loss is a process that involves the use of medical intervention to help individuals achieve their weight loss goals. This may include dietary modifications, physical activity, medications, or other therapies.
Who is eligible for medical weight loss?
Medical weight loss is typically recommended for individuals who are overweight or obese, and/or who have health risks associated with their weight. Generally, those with a body mass index (BMI) over 25 may be eligible.
Another group that is often forgotten is the class “Normal Weight Obesity”. This term is used for someone with a normal BMI yet has the fat percentage of someone in the obese range. It is a more important number to follow. At Revitalized Health we focus on more than just one number. Our goals are for you to be healthy and strong!
What are the benefits of medical weight loss?
Medical weight loss can help individuals reduce their risk of obesity-related health conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. Additionally, it can help improve mood, energy, and overall quality of life.
What should I expect during my medical weight loss program?
We have several plans to make sure you are monitored and encouraged to keep the weight off. Our program will involve an initial assessment to determine your current health status and weight-loss goals. From there, your provider may recommend dietary modifications, physical activity, medications, or other therapies. They may also recommend regular follow-up visits to track progress. We’ve found that accountability is the best way to have success in the short and long term.
How long does it take to see results from medical weight loss?
Provided you stay on the medically guided plan as prescribed, you’ll see positive changes as soon as the first week of treatment. Some patients may take as long as a month to see results. The results will vary on the underlying medication conditions as well as mindset.
